The Vermont Securities Act is contained in Title 9, Chapter 150 of the Vermont Statutes. It gives Vermont investors a network of rights and protections, including the right to seek financial redress against securities salespersons and investment advisors.
The Vermont Securities Act is enforced by the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation’s Securities Division, which has two missions: to protect Vermont investors from unethical conduct and to promote the development of Vermont’s capital markets.
Among other things, the Vermont Securities Division registers securities offered for sale, registers brokers and investment advisers, examines securities professionals, responds to investor complaints, investigates allegations of misconduct, educates Vermont investors, and brings administrative or civil actions against those who violate Vermont securities rules and regulations.
What the Vermont Securities Division cannot do is represent investors in private arbitration before a FINRA panel, which is where most securities complaints are heard. Only private securities attorneys have this power. Why Fitapelli Kurta?
Before our attorneys represented investors, they represented brokerage firms and investment banks. Now we work exclusively for the investor, using our years of experience from the other side of the table to seek justice for our clients.
Our record of success speaks for itself: our founding partners are both SuperLawyers®, and our attorneys are frequently quoted in the media. Fitapelli Kurta has received the Avvo Client’s Choice Award for Arbitration, among other recognitions, and we appear regularly in trade publications.
We only get paid if you get paid. Fitapelli Kurta operates on a contingency basis, and only collects a fee if our clients collect damages. Now What?
