Customer Dispute Against Larry Laio Regarding Variable Annuity Products

Larry LaioPublicly available records published by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and accessed on May 7, 2018 indicate that Illinois-based Voya Financial Advisors broker Larry Laio has been involved in several customer disputes. Larry Laio has spent 30 years in the securities industry and has been registered with Voya Financial Advisors in Lasalle, Illinois since 2004. Previous registrations include Locust Street Securities in Des Moines, Iowa (2002-2004); Vision Investment Services in Rosemont, Illinois (2001-2002); and Pruco Securities Corporation in Newark, New Jersey (1987-2001). He has passed three securities industry examinations: Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination), which he obtained on July 9, 1991; Series 7 (General Securities Representative Examination), which he obtained on October 4, 2007; and Series 6 (Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination), which he obtained on October 19, 1987. He is a registered broker with two US states: Illinois and Iowa.

According to his BrokerCheck report, he has received two customer complaints and one closed customer complaint.

In July 2017 a customer alleged Larry Laio, while employed at Voya Financial Advisors, misrepresented material facts related to variable annuity products. The complaint settled in January 2018 for $45,000.

In 2006 a customer alleged Larry Laio, while employed at Pruco Securities, recommended an unsuitable variable universal life insurance product. The complaint settled for more than $57,000.

In 2003 a customer alleged Larry Laio, while employed at Pruco Securities, misrepresented material facts and recommended an unsuitable investment. The customer sought unspecified damages in the complaint, which was closed with no action taken.
