J. Jill, Inc.: Class Action

J. Jill, Inc.

Publicly available records indicate that a class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of investors in J. Jill, Inc. (NYSE: JILL) in connection to alleged violations of securities laws by JILL. Fitapelli Kurta is interested in hearing from investors who have complaints regarding investments made in J. Jill, Inc. between March 6, 2017, and October 3, 2017.

The class action complaint specifically alleges that during the period in question, JILL might have provided false and/or misleading material information, and/or failed to disclose adverse material information to the public, namely: that the company’s reportedly original, superior strategy for sales and marketing had not protected it from negative trends in the retail industry; that the company’s history gross margin growth depended on short-term revenue boosts and was thus unsustainable; that the company held a growing amount of inventory that sold slowly, and would thus need to substantially mark down sales products and ramp up promotional activities if it was to continue growing its sales; that the company’s stores were suffering as a result of failures to attract customers and sustain profits; and that the company’s capacity to service its long-term debts, as well as its prospects and business overall, had been adversely affected by all of these developments. The complaint alleges that when true facts emerged, investors suffered losses.

According to the company’s website, J. Jill, Inc. is an “omnichannel retailer of women’s clothing… accessories and footwear” which is “committed to providing friendly, guiding service wherever you choose to stop.” The retailer has over 270 brick-and-mortar stores and trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol JILL.
