David Tysk Has Pending State Investigation

David TyskPublicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on May 20, 2016 indicate that Minnesota-based Ameriprise Financial Services broker/adviser David Tysk is the subject of a pending regulatory complaint. David Tysk has spent 28 years in the securities industry and has been registered with Ameriprise Financial Services in in Eden Prairie, Minnesota since 1987. He was previously registered with IDS Life Insurance Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1999-2006). He is a registered broker and investment adviser with 19 US states and territories.

According to his BrokerCheck report, David Tysk has received two customer complaints, one pending regulatory complaint, and one regulatory sanction on appeal.

In October 2015, the New York State Department of Financial Services named David Tysk respondent in an investigation into allegations that he “has demonstrated untrustworthiness and/or incompetence to act as an insurance producer” and “provided materially incorrect, materially misleading, materially incomplete and/or materially untrue information in a license applicant.” The investigation remains pending.

In 2013, FINRA sanctioned David Tysk following allegations he edited computer records related to a customer’s complaint that he made unsuitable recommendations. The sanction is on appeal.

In 2008, a customer alleged David Tysk, while employed at Ameriprise Financial Services, acted negligently, misrepresented material facts related to an investment, engaged in unjust enrichment, and breached his fiduciary duty. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of $466,000.

In 2005, a customer alleged David Tysk, while employed at American Express Financial Advisors, did not adequately disclose fees and misrepresented material facts related to an investment. The complaint settled for $6,500.
